Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the enchanting town of Moravská Třebová, Penzion-Apartman U Johana is a delightful 17th-century gem where history meets hospitality. The cozy studio, complete with a well-equipped kitchen and free WiFi, offered a charming retreat for our Christmas getaway. With a bakery just steps away, mornings began with freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries, a delightful touch for a historian like myself with a penchant for the finer details of Central European architecture. The warm welcome we received set the tone for our stay, where the attention to detail and friendly service truly stood out. While we didn't find a coffee machine in the room, the bakery's offerings more than made up for it, adding to the authentic experience of living amidst the town's historic charm. The comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep after exploring the nearby chateau and partaking in activities like skiing and horse riding in the picturesque surroundings. The convenience of a nearby supermarket made it easy to stock up on essentials, while the option of joining locals for a cellar party added a touch of local flavor to our stay. The proximity to the city center allowed for easy exploration, and the free parking was a welcome bonus. The 17th-century cellar bar was a particular highlight, where we savored good wine and immersed ourselves in the rich atmosphere of the past. From the exceptional breakfast to the authentic ambiance, this charming property offers a truly immersive experience for those seeking a taste of Czech heritage. A true hidden gem in the heart of Moravská Třebová, I highly recommend it for a memorable stay that goes beyond the ordinary.
